Menquadfi: Routine Vaccination of Persons Age 11 through 18

ACIP recommends routine vaccination of persons with quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (Menquadfi) at age 11 or 12 years, with a booster dose at age 16 years. After a booster dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (Menquadfi), antibody titers are higher than after the first dose and are expected to protect adolescents through the period of increased risk through age 21 years.

For adolescents who receive the first dose at age 13 through 15 years, a one- time booster dose should be administered, preferably at age 16 through 18 years, before the peak in increased risk.

Persons who receive their first dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (Menquadfi) at or after age 16 years do not need a booster dose.

Routine vaccination of healthy persons who are not at increased risk for exposure to N. meningitidis is not recommended after age 21 years.

Rotateq: Rotavirus Vaccine

  • Minimum age: 6 weeks
  • Administer first dose at 6-14 weeks
  • Maximum age 14 weeks 6 days
  • Vaccination should not be initiated for infants age 15 weeks or older. (i.e. 15 weeks, 0 days)
  • Maximum age for final dose is 8 months 0 days.
  • If Rotarix is administered at ages 2 and 4 months, a dose at 6months is not indicated.

MMR: Measles, Mumps, & Rubella

  • Any child traveling out of the USA who is 6 months old and over should have an MMR prior to travel.
  • If given < 12 months, it does not count for school and will have to be repeated. The 2nd dose is not a booster as much as to get the 5% of patients who do not respond to the first dose.
  • A child over age 1 who receives a dose of MMR, may have a second dose as soon as 28 days after the first visit if needed for travel.
  • Anyone with 2 doses over age 1 year is considered immune.
